3 nabbed for Chinese ‘killing’

POLICE in Dar es Salaam Special Zone are holding three suspects in connection with the killing of Ms Zhu Jinfeng, a Chinese investor who was ambushed by armed robbers at Kurasini on October 11, 2011 and died the same day of gun wounds at the Muhimbili National Hospital.

Special Police Zone Commander Mr Suleiman Kova, told a press conference that the suspects alleged to have helped the armed robbers ambush and ransack the house of the Chinese investor were arrested in the city.

"The arrested suspects will help us in our investigations to catch the perpetrators of the crime," noted Mr Kova. The deceased was the wife of Chairman of the Chinese Business Chamber in Tanzania, Mr Zhu Jinfeng.

However, Mr Kova refused to disclose the names of the suspects, saying it would disrupt investigations. In another development, Mr Kova said the police are holding 108 suspects for being in possession of stolen motorcycles and narcotic drugs.

He said two suspects were nabbed with stolen motorcycles at Vingunguti Machinjioni area in Ilala municipality on October 18.

Mr Kova named the suspects as Ukweli Musa (19) and George Elias (30) of Dar es Salaam. He also said the police recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla with registration number T 611 APF.

Mr Kova said the car was stolen near Mama Kamche Bar along Sam Nujoma Road, and that the suspects used a master key to carry out their mission.

Police also arrested suspects in possession of narcotic drugs including 151 bundles, 656 pellets and 1877 rolls of bhang in the city last week.

The arrested suspects were identified as Rajabu Mohamed (21), Lazaro John (26), Musa Said (23), James Livingstone (21), Juma Twaha (18) Pius Emmanuel (23), Amiri Khamis (18), Julius Mathis (28) and 90 others whose identity was not established.
