When I took the kids to the Samuel Lewis State Park on Saturday, Greta had a lot of fun walking around the park and looking at the small signs identifying each tree. Beneath the beech tree were many, many seed pods that looked like small man-eating plants. I visualized the seed pod like a bead cap over a glass focal bead or a faceted, gem-like focal bead, which is ultimately how I ended up making this spider, but it doesn't exactly look thematic. I wanted shiny blue glass with matte, natural browns, and that's how this spider turned out.
Materials: beech tree seed pod, blue glass beads, wooden bead, dark red and blue glass bugle beads, brown and blue E beads, dark red and blue seed beads, silver wire
